Nothing Is Better
It is back, after nearly 2 years. I am talking about PLAYOFF HOCKEY!!!! It is by far the most dramatic post season out of any sport and to prove it I will give examples by Tim Cowlishaw on Around The Horn:
1.) In baseball there is always last licks for the home team
2.) Football can be won by a measley field goal
3.) In hockey, it is even- no last licks, a goal is a goal is a goal; OT is played until a goal is scored
Being a DEVILS fan, I have a lot of experience with the OT, especially from the 2000 Stanley Cup Championship against the Dallas Stars. I stayed up for the multiple 2 OT games (this was before networks implemented a no commercial during OT play). I watched Game 5 go to 3 OT as the Devils tried to win it all on home ice, but a deflection by Modano ended my hopes of home ice victory at 1:18 AM. In Game 6, an absolutely beautiful play involving Patrik Elias (NJ), Hatcher (Dal), and Jason Arnott. In 2 OT, Elias passed the puck in the corner of the Dallas zone, pressured by the defenseman Hatcher. The puck went straight to Arnott, who was in front of the goal. As Belfour, the Dallas goalie, went down to block it, Arnott lifted it in. The puck passed and I celebrated with my dad at 12:48 AM.
Right now, my team is man handling the NY Rangers (the biggest rivals). The series is 3-0 in favor of NJ. The win tonight gave Brodeur his 21st career playoff shutout as the Devs won 3-0. This is the 14th consecutive win and the 8th consecutive loss for the Rangers. Nothing is sweeter.
BRODEUR IS BETTER; HE IS THE BEST EVER!!!
LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Carpe Diem.
