you must have put this here especially for my review of "walk the line" - we finally watched it last night uninterrupted. no wonder our kids love it. it is a story of redemption and love. the actors (joaquin phoenix and reese witherspoon) were cast perfectly as johnny and june carter cash.

the work that went into their roles must have been tedious as there were times we couldn't tell them from the real thing.

johnny's love of june went beyond the regular bounds as did her love of him - seeing him through his addictions, his ordeal with his father; it was apparent june's parents had a great love for him also.

i'm sorry about their adultery, but i feel they were redeemed. it was fun just listening to my husband sing ALL the songs played in the movie.

the story of a man and a woman will always get our attention over other less savory "sheeppacking fudgeherder" movies.

thank you for allowing me this space to do my review - all thumbs up!

i do book reviews also for a small fee! bwaaaahhhhhh!

i told you it was a great film. the performances across the board were phenomonal.

i didn't know johnny's childhood was so messed up. he persued his dream even when his father was against it.

the adultery eventually lead to june and johnny to become married, so in the end it doesn't seem too bad. it seemed to me, through the movie, his in-laws were more concerned about his addiction problem, which is sad.

june's family seemed to love without bounds or expectations and johnny's parents offered love in exchange for concessions and wanted to remain in control of him so as not to lose control of themselves. sad that people have such a hard time parenting. at the end of the movie it appeared they were on the mend - that's great.

being this is a rock oriented website, i do mostly music reviews, but i have posted on other things. if movie reviews are on demand, then i will do some. this is a good movie month.

Nanc, its usually quite a while after everyone else sees a movie before I do.

My, brother in law, bought me the boxed DVD set of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy for Christmas. I hadn't seen the second all the way through nor the third at all. I wanted to see it but for reasons beyond my control, I was not able.

It was the most thoughtful gift I have received in years and the most unexpected.

I'll let you know when I see it and then will review it on my blog, if you wish.

you still haven't seen 'the lord of the rings'?! all three were very good. although i will tell you in advance, there are 3 or 4 "endings". i remember when i saw it in the theater and people applauded for each of them with some giving a standing ovation.

we have them, but i haven't seen them either. for some strange reason we've been into true war movies, my newest favorite is "black hawk down".

btw, drummaster - i love your animal! the "muppet show" - now there was great entertainment. you could always do movie reviews with great soundtracks, like "apocalypse now" - we got rapt in that one awhile back. "shrek" had an excellent soundtrack.

warren - i believe it would be a very good thing for you to do a movie review now and then. i usually trust what others tell me about their take. we're right in the middle of "coach carter" this week - so far, so good.

i have 'black hawk down', but never watched it. 'saving private ryan' was a great war pic. i have a thing for nazi killing.

samuel l. jackson is a great actor. my favorite role of his, which i would also argue as one of his best, was in quentin tarantino's 'pulp fiction'.

animal rocks!! it is a coincidence i chose this as an avatar, second muppet one in the family to the beak, although it fit so well.

if you need another good reason to dislike the clinton admin, "black hawk down" is a must see. watch it drummaster, very fast paced and captivating.

we didn't care much for pulp fiction at all. i take much heat for that from friends so if we could just leave it at that. samuel l. jackson is one of the best actors of our time.

if i were a muppet, i'd be a girl swedish chef! food flying everywhere with that little diddy on my tongue he used to do where he'd say, "bork, bork, bork!" at the end.

I wasn't very clear on that.

Up to that point I hadn't seen all of the LOTR movies, I had only seen the first and part of the second. I watched all of them on my Christmas time off. I still haven't watched the extras on the DVDs.

My wife, rather perturbed at me for commandeering her TV, said, "There's an awful lot of fighting in those movies." LOL Excessive gore upsets her and she hates to see the good guys get killed. I think I lost her when Gandalf the Gray fell into the pit.

I'm a reader, my house is full of books. A lot of the time, I have already read the novel(s) years before a movie is made. I will say that the LOTR Movies faithfully followed the books as well as any movie I have seen.

I have seen "Saving Private Ryan", not "Black Hawk Down". I liked Private Ryan, although I could clearly see that the German prisoner that the lieutenant released was going to be the instrument of his destruction. Quite a few of the more dramatic scenes were telegraphed by Speilburg's heavy director's hand. Perhaps that was intentional.

My favorite movie is "Blade Runner" although it resembles, Philip K Dick's book, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", not very well, it captures the essence of Dick's work.

warren:

'saving private ryan' was my favorite spielberg film.

i never saw 'blade runner'. i am familiar with philip k. dick though. 'minority report' was a great movie- my dad bought the book with that and other short stories of his. they took liberties with the film, from the little my dad showed me in the beginning, but nonetheless i liked it.

LOTR was MUCH better in the movies than books. i read the first book after the first movie and was bored out of my mind. i never bothered to read the rest. its too bad you lost your wife at that part- he was just getting started.

warren - GET your wife her own t.v. - this is the 21st century! i'll never forget the time our family had three, count them THREE televisions and vhs machines in our madeover 28' motorhome - talk about wanting to keep everybody happy - we also had satellite i'm ashamed to say...it was during the time i had it bad for "crocodile hunter" in his first year of broadcast. my schweetie calls him a sissie probably from oregon!

i love "blade runner" - in the genre of "soylent green". as far as fantasy goes, my favorite is "shrek" - i just know they made that movie for adults under the guise of being a children's movie, pshaw!
