The Man In Black And The Academy

On Tuesday I bought the movie Walk The Line because I heard from lesser music aficionados that it was a decent movie. After watching the cinema, I thought the movie kicked ass, plain and simple. You don't need to be a fan of Johnny Cash or his music to be entertained by this film. From what I have heard, Joaquin Phoenix had to learn how to play the guitar for his role. He also had to sing in Cash's stylings. Both were done very well. Resse Witherspoon's portrayal of June Carter Cash was also great. Walk The Line did fairly well in the Golden Globes, but did not fare too well in last nights Academy Awards. The only award taken was by Resse Witherspoon for best actress. To close: if you want to be entertained, check this movie out.

Now on to the Academy Awards- I am concerned about where these are going. There were only 3 songs up for an award- all of them were performed on stage. In my opinion, all three were terrible. One of them was a rap/hip-hop song called "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" for the movie Hustle And Flow. Somehow, this song won. As I have said before, rap does not constitute as music. Was the academy smoking something when they chose this as best song?

Cash was a little folk for me, but even i thought the movie was great. my favorite Cash song was the remake of a Nine Inch Nails song called "Hurt". he's had quite a road, and did have some decent songs.

i would have rather missed the best song award because it ruined everything after that to be honest. although jon stewart made a funny shot at martin scorsese after this award was announced.

we got this movie last week and our kids love it although we haven't had the time to watch it. we are cash fans at our house and much more than that about this movie - the actors seem to have studied the parts well and made them believable.

johnny and june carter cash - may the rest in peace - left a great legacy.

i also thought everyone did a great job portraying their characters. i never considered Joaquin Phoenix a great actor previously from "gladiator" or "signs", but he did a great job in this picture.

we are joaquin phoenixfied at our house - our 13 1/2 year old daughter calls him "my baby" - puts him on our screensaver and fusses over him like he was in the room. he had a bit part in "hotel rwanda" which btw was an excellent movie and we like "ladder 49". he is a fine actor.

I have a link to the Jonny Cash, "Hurt", video that I ran across two days ago. My parents were Cash fans so I heard him until I didn't care to hear anymore but this NIN snog and the Video are a different animal.

Nanc, you'll have to install Flash Player to see it. HERE

What is it with women?

I can see it now.
The first cave man and woman,

He goes out to kill something to eat.

She starts moving the rocks around in the cave!

He comes home and she says, "Do you think the brown rock looks better by the cave entrace or the fire pit", he says, "Ugh!"

how did we get on the topic of cave people who do interior decorating with rocks!?

lol.

anyway, the most obvious answer is "where ever you like" so as to avoid any confrontation after the hunter brings home the bacon, which in this case is a saber toothed tiger.

No DM,

The correct answer is, "Where do 'you' think it looks best, dear?"
